Famous People With Asthma
As
asthma is one of the most commonly occurring illnesses across the
world, it's little wonder that many a famous face has suffered from the
illness. Here's a look at the notable inclusions on the list of famous
people that have or had asthma:
-
John F Kennedy Junior (1917 - 1963)
American
President and member of the notable Democrat dynasty, JFR Junior
suffered from asthma throughout his life. He was assassinated by Lee
Harvey Oswald during a parade in Dallas, Texas in 1963.
-
Ludwig Von Beethoven (1770 - 1827)
Perhaps
the most famous composer of them all, Beethoven, was a known asthma
sufferer. Beethoven's health was frail throughout his life, most
notably with the diagnosis of "tinnitus" - a ringing in the ears that
is distracting and can affect hearing, making his musical compositions
all the more impressive.
-
Charles Dickens (1812 - 1970)
English
author Charles Dickens is still celebrated today, through the magic of
works such as 'Oliver Twist', 'Great Expectations' and 'A Christmas
Carol'. The writer was a known asthma sufferer, no doubt hindered by
the less than hygienic ideals of Victorian England.
-
Liza Minelli (born 1962)
The
daughter of Hollywood legend Judy Garland was diagnosed with asthma as
a child, though the illness has never affected her ability to carry a
tune - as the cult classic film 'Cabaret' shows.
-
David Beckham (born 1975)
One of the most famous sporting stars in the world today, former England soccer captain (and Spice Girl husband) David Beckham has battled with asthma throughout his career. He has won over 100 caps for his country, and played for celebrated teams such as Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan.
